The Man Standing Next

The Man Standing Next a început când Coreea a fost complet controlată de președintele Park (Lee Sung-min) în anii 1970. Președintele Park era deținătorul creierului și al controlului deplin al Agenției Coreene de Informații (KCIA). Acesta l-a numit pe șeful Agenției coreene de informații (KCIA) Kim Gyu-Pyeong (Lee Byung-hun) în a doua cea mai înaltă poziție de conducere coreeană.

Creșterea tensiunilor politice a dus la uciderea președintelui Park de către Kim Gyu-Pyeong. Cu toate acestea, cu 40 de zile înainte de a avea loc crima, în mijlocul unor situații critice care au avut loc la nivelul liderului, Park Yong-Gak (Kwak Do-won) a depus mărturie semnificativă la procesele din Statele Unite.

The Man Standing Next a fost adaptat după un roman non-ficțiune intitulat Șeful namsanului (Namsanui Bujangdeul) de Kim Choong-sik. Inscripția a fost difuzată în ziarul Dong-A Korea în 1990-1992, spunând adevărata poveste a șefului KCIA Kim Hyong-UK și plecarea sa.
